How does the Email app take advantage of 3D Touch? (iOS)

3D Touch Quick Actions and Widget

3D Touch is a feature that allows you to quickly access or preview content, and it's available on Apple’s iPhone 6s (and newer models). Our Email app allows you to customize the 3D Touch actions you see from the app icon on your homescreen. To select your 3D Touch options, take the following steps:

1. Tap the menu (hamburger icon) in the upper-left corner of your inbox.
2. Scroll to the bottom and tap on Settings.
3. Tap 3D Touch Quick Options. Select the folders you want to access quickly.

To access the Quick Action menu, navigate to the app icon on your homepage. Press hard on the app icon and a menu will pop-up containing shortcuts to the options you selected in your app Settings. You can also add the Email widget to Notification Center, which shows you how many unread messages you have in each account.

Message Preview (Peak-and-Pop)

You can also preview a message without opening the entire email, just gently press your ginger on the item in your inbox until a message preview pops up. Continue pressing down to open up the entire message if you wish to take more action…

Notification Actions

Push down on a notification to mark a message as read, archive, reply, and delete.
